چکیده
We developed a simple high-throughput colorimetric assay to detect glucose based on the glucose oxidase (GOx)-catalysed enlargement of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Compared with the currently available glucose kit method, the AuNP-based assay provides higher clinical sensitivity at lower cost, indicating its great potential to be a powerful tool for clinical screening of glucose.

Glucose Oxidase-Catalyzed Growth of Gold Nanoparticles Enables Quantitative Detection of Attomolar Cancer Biomarkers
Ultrasensitive and quantitative detection of cancer biomarkers is an unmet challenge because of their ultralow concentrations in clinical samples. Although gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based immunoassays offer high sensitivity, they were unable to quantitatively detect targets of interest most likely due to their very narrow linear ranges. This article describes a quantitative colorimetric immunoas...
متن کاملA Simple Image Analysis Method for Determination of Glucose by using Glucose Oxidase CdTe/TGA Quantum Dots
Glucose, as the major energy source in cellular metabolism, plays an important role in the natural growth of cells. Herein, a simple, rapid and low-cost method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and CdTe/thioglycolic acid (TGA) quantum dots (QDs) on a thin layer chromatography (TLC) plate has been described. The detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzym...
متن کاملAssessing Stability of Gold Nanoparticles in Presence of Two Enzymes, RNaseA and RNaseH, Using Colorimetric Detection
Gold nanoparticle-based diagnostic methods have attracted much attention due to their simplicity, high sensitivity and low cost. These methods are mostly used for early and efficient detection of various pathogenic factors and assessment of gene expression and nanoparticles stability. In this study, melon plants were cultured in vivo and then, RNA was extracted from leaf explants. A 40 bp probe...
متن کاملPeroxidase-like activity of chitosan stabilized silver nanoparticles for visual and colorimetric detection of glucose.
Chitosan stabilized silver nanoparticles (Ch-Ag NPs) were successfully synthesized by a one-step method and were found to possess intrinsic peroxidase-like activity, could catalytically oxidize substrates, such as TMB, and OPD, by H(2)O(2) to produce a typical colour reaction such as from colorless to blue for TMB and from colorless to red for OPD. Our results demonstrate that the Ch-Ag NPs exh...
متن کاملAn ultrasensitive, non-enzymatic glucose assay via gold nanorod-assisted generation of silver nanoparticles.
This report demonstrates a colorimetric, non-enzymatic glucose assay with a low detection limit of 0.07 μM based on negatively charged gold nanorod-enhanced redox reaction. This glucose assay could generate silver nanoparticles as the readout that can be visualized by the naked eye, and only 4 femtomoles of nanorods are needed for glucose determination in one human plasma sample.
